Organic Acids Advanced Training

This week marked the end of a long wait and the start of the Kalish Institute Advanced training, a class all about the Genova Diagnostics Organix Comprehensive Profile. The course is for Kalish Mentorship graduates only and has been 15 years in the making. Dr. Kalish modestly acknowledges that the material for the mentorship is largely the work of the late Dr. Bill Timmins (founder of BioHealth laboratory). This new advanced class is all his work. In his words, Kalish 2.0.

What do athletes and the chronically ill have in common?

They both are trying to generate more energy. So whilst organic acid testing was designed to help with fatigue in the chronically ill, it serves equally well to increase athletic performance.

What can organic acid testing tell you?

  • Fat burning
  • Blood sugar stabilization
  • Energy production
  • Methylation
  • Toxins and detoxification
  • Oxidative stress/antioxidants
  • Neurotransmitter turnover
  • Intestinal bacterial overgrowth

How does it do that?

Organic acids are breakdown products and measuring them in the urine is a surrogate marker that tells us how well something is working inside your body. Take, for example, Methylmalonate. Vitamin B12 works together with folate in the synthesis of DNA and red blood cells, and the build up of Methylmalonate in the urine indicates B12 deficiency even before a blood test would. So we're not looking at B12 directly. Instead, we're using a surrogate marker. This neat trick allows one test to provide a wide range of biomarkers from a single urine sample. Cool huh?

What I hope to get out of the class

I've already benefited hugely from organic acid testing, as have the 150 people I've been working with over the past six months. I now have a huge corpus of data and clear patterns are starting to emerge.  My hope is that extending my knowledge through Dr Kalish's vast clinical experience will allow me to design even better diet, lifestyle and supplementation protocols.

A new community

The Kalish Institute now has a new online community you can think of like Facebook for Kalish Method practitioners. The breadth and depth of knowledge of the healthcare professionals taking part are enormous, and I'm extremely excited to have access to this resource.

Ordering an Organix profile for yourself

Organic acid testing is just one of a three-pronged approach I use in practice to improve athletic performance and help with chronic health complaints such as weight gain, fatigue, depression, digestive problems and hormone imbalance. Order one for yourself as part of a complete testing and coaching package.
